ISVG and Web 2.0

Uncategorized

With the relaunch of ISVG’s website, and the introduction of the blog, we thought it was appropriate to take some time out to talk about what we plan on doing and why we think an online presence is important for us.

Obviously if you’re reading this, you’re at least somewhat familiar with what ISVG is. On the off chance you’re not, we’re essentially an organization based around the idea that open-source collection of information on terrorism, extremism, and transnational crime is something useful to both the practitioner and academic community. 2010 is ISVG’s seventh year of existence and we have built our reputation assisting our partners with their projects and building the most comprehensive database possible.  We are now at the point where we’re ready to raise our profile, allowing the general public access to portions of the database and the products and analyses we create.

Thus far, terrorism studies have remained somewhat disconnected from the professional community and the general public. We see this website as a way to interface on a more regular basis with other individuals and organizations in the field that have strong interests in terrorism studies, or a need for the data that we can provide.  We hope that you enjoy our site and return frequently to see what we’re up to.
